Since 2019, Impact Ventures by J&J Foundation has invested in companies developing innovative solutions to improve access to quality and affordable healthcare. We have also helped to build an ecosystem where early-stage health impact innovation can thrive by supporting entrepreneurs, pitch competitions, accelerator programs, research and advocacy. Though we are focused on our mission to catalyze more impact in the future, we reflect back on highlights from the last five years.
95% of our investments are helping to bridge gaps in access to care
Nearly every company we have invested in since 2019 is making healthcare more accessible. From Penda Health’s robust network of clinics, made stronger by the technology it integrates to optimize care, to SwipeRx’s digital platform that connects pharmacists to training and tools to access essential medicines, to Hamilton Health Box’s microclinics designed to reach patients in care deserts, our investments are helping ensure more people get the care they need.
240 entrepreneurs equipped through accelerators, competitions, fellowships and other funding
Entrepreneurs play a powerful role in driving health innovation, but they need support to bring their ideas to life. Over the years, Impact Ventures has worked with organizations including Village Capital, MIT Solve and Villgro Africa to run programs that provide early-stage health innovators with mentorship, networking, resources and funding opportunities. We have equipped entrepreneurs around the world with dedicated programs in the U.S., Africa and Latin America.
90M patients reached by companies in our investment portfolio
Our portfolio companies reach patients in communities across five continents with a broad range of services and solutions for health systems and supply chain, healthtech and digital platforms, medtech and diagnostics, and improved care delivery and clinical services. In addition to our direct investments in companies, we also support other professionally managed impact funds. Our fund investments include HealthQuad venture capital fund in India, Cross-Border Impact Ventures for women and children’s health and Verge for early-stage impactful healthtech startups.
800K health workers supported with training, resources and tools to deliver quality care
Health workers are at the forefront of care, but there are critical shortages in communities around the world. And while many of our investments directly impact patients, we also invest in companies that support health workers, so they are able to deliver the best possible care. Reach52 is one example: the company builds community health interventions and health worker training in emerging markets that help patients access essential health services. Investments like these support health workers with the jobs, training, resources and tools they need to deliver quality care to all patients.
9K hours of pro bono services from J&J experts to support portfolio companies
Impact Ventures invests more than capital; we also actively support our portfolio companies with technical assistance and resources to expand organizational capacity. One tangible way we do this is by offering expert services provided pro bono by J&J employees through our Talent for Good volunteer program. J&J employees have supported a wide range of initiatives with our companies, including brand strategy, pricing analysis, business development, marketing, finance, data analytics and impact measurement.
Together, we are making an impact that counts.
